Third Community Meetup, Aleppo
We took the community north: an open meetup in Aleppo that started a local network of young data enthusiasts.
After two meetups in Damascus, we deliberately held our third in Aleppo. Northern Syria has very few data events, and we wanted to go where the need was.
On 21 May 2025, analysts, developers, engineers, researchers and students met at the Sanad Youth Foundation centre in New Shahba. They talked about how they learned, which tools they use, and what makes working with data hard in Syria.
The visit confirmed the need. It also led to a small, active network of youth groups in Aleppo interested in data and analytics, momentum that continued well after the meetup.
